Applicants who hold one of the following will be exempt from entry requirement 0.1* when applying for the WACS Certified Master Chef or WACS Certified Master Pastry Chef certification:
• Michelin star(s) as the chef de cuisine or executive chef (for Master Chef level) or executive pastry chef (for Master Pastry Chef level) in charge of the culinary or pastry operation which was awarded the Michelin star(s)
• Gold medal in one of the following global culinary competitions:
- Bocuse D'or
- Global Chef Challenge
- Culinary Olympics (IKA)
- Culinary World Cup
• Master Chef or Master Pastry Chef certification**
*Under Entry requirement 0.1, the applicant is required to demonstrate that they have completed the WACS Certified Executive Chef level (for the Master Chef applications) or Pastry Chef level (for Master Pastry Chef applications). Applicants who have achieved any of the exemptions listed above will qualify for entry onto the certification scheme even if they do not hold a WACS Certified Executive Chef or Pastry Chef certification.
**Master Chef/ Master Pastry Chef certification refers to master chef/ master pastry chef programmes where the candidate is awarded a master chef or master pastry title. It includes the former WACS Certified Global Master Chef programme.
The above exemption arrangements took effect on 16 July 2013 and supersedes exemption arrangements published prior to this date. Please ensure that you download the current version of the scheme handbooks from the website.
