In view of the upcoming WACS Asia Pacific Forum from 28 - 30 May 2003 in Mauritius, Murday Gopalsamy, president of the Mauritian Chefs Association extends a warm invite to all chefs in the region to visit the tropical jewel of the Indian Ocean that he calls home. With spectacular white beaches and ocean views, visitors can relax and be themselves amidst the plethora of palm and coconut trees. Mauritius is also known as the 'land of smiles'. It's no wonder. If you lived in paradise, wouldn't you be smiling?

MAURITIAN CHEFS ASSOCIATION
The relatively young Mauritian Chefs Association (MCA) was created in March 1999 and has since risen in the culinary scene to become an active participant in many WACS-related competitions and events in recent years. Mr Christopher Najbicz, president of the Association des Hoteliers et Restaurateurs de I'lle Maurice (otherwise known as AHRIM, 'the voice of the tourism industry in Mauritius') has testified "The MCA has been active in demonstrating the savoire faire of its members through innovative ideas and creativity." In the same written address to delegates at the WACS 30th World Congress earlier this year, he said AHRIM is pleased to be associated with this initiative to promote Mauritian cuisine internationally and to give a new dimension to the talents and skills of Mauritian chefs. The MCA's greatest honour yet is the opportunity to host the WACS Asia Pacific Forum on their beautiful island in May 2003.

Further details of the May 2003 WACS Asia-Pacific Forum will be posted on this website soon, watch out for it! For urgent enquiries, please email MCA Secretary, Mr Mougam Pareatumbee at mougam@intnet.mu
