Gary was born and educated in Bournemouth, Dorset, England.
At the age of fifteen he started out as an Apprentice Chef and, five years later, was appointed Head Chef in Bannockburn, Scotland.    A year later he moved to the British Petroleum Company in London only leaving after fourteen enjoyable years when Cook-Chill came into operation.

 

The following two years saw Gary having his own business in Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswolds, but then moved to the nearby Old Manse Hotel as an Executive Chef before becoming General Manager of this three-star hotel a year later.  He was then offered the most prestigious position of General Manager at the Athenaeum Club in Pall Mall, London, before promotion to the Law Society in Chancery Lane, London, came three years later. 

 

For the past seventeen years Gary has been teaching Pastry and Confectionery as well as Kitchen work at the Bournemouth and Poole College.

PRESENT ACTIVITIES:

 

After forty-six years, I still remain active with Judging and Mentoring some students within The College.  I enjoy encouraging, teaching and coaching the younger generation of today who are just starting out on the road to success and hopefully giving good critique to competitors who are involved in the competitions around the world.
