Global Chefs Challenge 2015 - Semi-Final Americas

WACS Americas Continental Director Claudio Ferrer announces the 2015 World Chefs Global Chef Challenge- Semi Finals Americas will be held in Quito, Ecuador 23 – 25 October 2015.  All three major challenges will be held including: Global Chefs Challenge, Global Pastry Chef Challenge, and Hans Bueschkens Young Chefs Challenge.
    The host for the three day event is the Asociacion de Chefs del Ecuador spearheaded by its president Mauricio Armendaris, CEC.  Competitors from the Caribbean Islands, South, Central and North America will descend into the town of Quito, Ecuador’s capital city located in the northcentral part of the mountainous country to demonstrate their skills and talents. The winner of each continental Semi Finals will compete for the world title in Athens Greece in 2016 as a part of the 2016 World Chefs Congress.
    Only national winners from a regional country may participate in the World Chefs Challenge Semi Finals. The Global Chefs competitors will work alone and produce a three course menu plating 6 plates each for the jury. Pastry competitors will produce one chocolate themed centerpiece and four plated restaurant desserts.  Hans Bueschkens Young Chefs Challenge competitors will produce and present a three course menu for four.
    All jurors will be official World Chef approved, with at least one member coming form the World Chefs Competition Committee. Each country sending a candidate to the challenge may bring one World Chef approved juror from their country to participate. These jurors will not be permitted to judge their own country’s challenges. All expenses for these jurors will be paid by the host country.  Otherwise World Chefs and Claudio Ferrer will identify and invite a world=class slate of jurors.
    Official rules and applications are available online and from Chef Claudio Ferrer by writing to him directly. Application guidelines are very specific and must be followed completely in order for the candidate to be eligible to compete. Some applications are due eight weeks prior to the event or sooner. Interested country representatives and chefs should make their decisions soon and prepare to go to Quito.
